What others say · translated from Norwegian and Swedish
«I encourage everyone who is interested in understanding the case to read the book «Forrådt av Norge».»
«Leadership consists of firmness, care and honesty. If this failed in Myanmar, it must be examined. It is in no way acceptable leadership to end up informing on democracy activists to a brutal military junta.»
«Prydz became an important catalyst by systematising the whistleblowers’ documentation and also turning the spotlight on the Norwegian state as Telenor’s majority owner.»
«The book documents that many relevant questions should be asked about the process when Telenor withdrew from Myanmar.»
«You cannot walk the world with a Nobel Peace Prize in one hand, and a telecom license for a dictatorship in the other, and expect not to be called out.»
«There is hardly a business principle or a humanitarian line that was not crossed.»
«This book provides a thorough analysis of Telenor’s serious ties to the military and supports the demand for an independent investigation.»
«Everyone who cares about democracy should read this book.»
«A shocking exposure of the dark and cynical side of Norwegian social democracy that very few have been aware of.»

About the book
A real-life political thriller
Forrådt av Norge («Betrayed by Norway») takes the reader behind the scenes of a story that begins with idealism and international engagement, and develops into a drama about power, loyalty, human rights and responsibility.
Through documents, whistleblower information, public sources and personal encounters, the book follows a trail from boardrooms in Norway to the military junta’s Myanmar, and a series of decisions that are still debated.
This is not a novel. All events are based on real people, real decisions and publicly documented facts. It reads like a thriller, but it is about a case that still has consequences.
The person behind the story
Ko Jimmy
The physics student who led the student uprising in 1988, and who spent more than twenty years in prison for the struggle for democracy. Behind the walls he met Nilar Thein, through notes passed between the cells. They married, had their daughter Sunshine and continued the struggle side by side.
After the 2021 coup Ko Jimmy went into hiding. In October that year he was arrested. On 23 July 2022 he was executed.
Forrådt av Norge is written for him, and for everyone who paid the price.
